Triad societies have long been active among young people who, given their future potential and present naively about the nature of the triads, are generally targets of absorption. This survey investigates the attitudes of young people towards the triad societies and their members. The results show that young people in Hong Kong are generally safe from triad interference. Young peopleˇ¦s perception of the triads is rather negative, but the protection the triads offer do attract some young people. The survey suggests that images of the triads should never be glamorized.
