Youth S.P.O.Ts

New challenges for the Centre service

Youth S.P.O.Ts ....... Space for Participation, Opportunities and Training

In April 2002, the Federation adopted a new name for youth centers to reflect the vitality, energy and enthusiasm of the life, leisure and learning pursuits of contemporary youth. Replacing the traditionally named " Youth centers" are Youth S.P.O.Ts - places that provide young people with the Space for Participation, Opportunities and Training.

For over 4 decades, youth centers played an important role in fostering the growth and development of the young in Hong King. In line with the adoption of a new name to reflect the zeal of the youth, the concept and foci of the centers have been rejuvenated to reflect the commitment of the Youth S.P.O.Ts in nurturing the younger generation, as well as meeting their aspirations and needs in the midst of rapid social and economic change. More precise conceptual dimensions have been put forth as the directions of the core services of the Youth S.P.O.Ts, which have included services ranging from counseling, education and training, to fostering creativity and encouraging volunteerism and participation.

To keep abreast with the concerns and interests of young people, requires not only updated and relevant service provisions in areas most needed, but also diversified and modernized physical facilities, which can be an inspiration to reach for goals and dreams. Therefore, the Federation is committed to modernize all of its Youth S.P.O.Ts. In cheerful and bright facilities, the 24 Youth S.P.O.Ts will create a conducive atmosphere, in safe and comfortable surroundings, for learning and growth.
