Project Shine

“Project Shine” is a service combating youth drug abuse problem of Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung and Tsing Yi District. As a community-based project, it employs community network approach with multi-disciplinary collaborations, to achieve early identification of high-risk and youth drug abusers in order to provide anti-drug education and motivation enhancement service.

Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy is being adopted as a key concept of the project. Through counseling, group training and tailor-made activities, the Project targets to advance the cognition of youth about problems of drug abuse. Counseling service also concerns the correlation between the activating events, irrational beliefs and negative emotions of drug abusers so as to help them to reflect on drug abuse experiences, enhance the withdrawn motivation, and change the mode of life. Consequently, the implementation of plan to quit drug is expected, and youth can be return to a healthy, happy and “shining” life.
